Woody McCorvey Coming to the Masters at the ALFCA Convention

Clemson’s Associate AD for football Woody McCorvey will be coming to the ALFCA Convention as this year’s Master of Football. The masters has been an important part of each convention with former high school and college coaches answering questions and talking about their days in football.

McCorvey is a native of Atmore, Alabama and played at Alabama State University. He was best known in the state as an assistant on the Alabama staffs of Gene Stallings and Mike Dubose for 8 years in the 1990’s. Before that he had spent 7 years at Clemson. After coaching at Alabama he served as an assistant at Tennessee, Mississippi State and South Carolina. In all, Coach McCorvey spent 18 seasons as an assistant coach in the SEC.

When Dabo Swinney became head coach at Clemson, he hired his former coach at Alabama to be a football administrator on his staff. When Swinney received the Bear Bryant Award as coach of the year after the 2018 season, he brought McCorvey to the stage and talked about their relationship.

McCorvey will speak at the Masters session on Friday morning of the convention.
