ALFCA Elects New Board Members at Convention

The Alabama Football Coaches Association elected four new board members and selected a new vice president at the 21st annual ALFCA Convention held last month in Montgomery.



Aryvia Holmes of McAdory High School was selected by the board as the new first vice president. Coach Holmes played at Midfield and was a standout receiver at Samford University. He played in the arena league for the Birmingham Steeldogs before starting his coaching career. Coach Holmes was an assistant at Miles College before spending four seasons back at Samford. In 2007 he went to the high school ranks, first as an assistant at Clay Chalkville. After one season he left for a four year tenure at Homewood and then spent five seasons on Josh Niblett's staff at Hoover. In 2017 he took the job as offensive coordinator at Pinson Valley and helped lead them to the 6A State Championship. He then left to go to Minor as offensive coordinator in 2018. Coach Holmes has been the head coach at McAdory since 2021 posting a record of 33-21.



Bart Sessions of Alma Bryant High School has been elected as the new board member for District 1. Coach Sessions enters his 6th season in 2026 with Alma Bryant. He was a longtime assistant at Davidson High School in Mobile before entering the head coaching ranks. He had a highly successful three year stint with the McGill Toolen Yellow Jackets from 2011-2013 where his teams won 34 games. Since then he has served as head coach at Tuscaloosa County, Gadsden City, and McAdory before coming to Alma Bryant in 2021.




Ben Blackmon will be the new representative in District 2. Coach Blackmon just completed his fourth season at Enterprise High School after spending 7 years as the head coach at Spanish Fort where his Toro squads had two state runner up finishes as well as winning the 2015 6A state championship. Coach Blackmon also served as head coach at Greenville and Gulf Shores.



Coach Scott Rials is the new ALFCA District 5 board member. Coach Rials just completed his second year at Calera High School. He arrived at Calera after four seasons as head coach at Baldwin County and five years at Luverne High School where his 2018 squad was state runner up. Coach Rials has also coached at Satsuma and Elba. His 2011 Elba team was a 15-0 state champion. He also spent 9 seasons as the head coach at South Montgomery Academy.



Coach David McKinney of Winfield High School is the new board member representing District 7. Coach McKinney just completed his 13th season with the Pirates. He arrived in Winfield after a six year run as head coach at Gordo. Coach McKinney's career coaching record is 165-60. In high school he played on his father's teams at Stevenson which won the 2A State Championship in 1979 and was runner up in 1981. Coach McKinney was a three year letterman at quarterback for Ole Miss in the 1980s.
