Saraland Opens Season on National Television

The Saraland Spartans will open its 2017 football season against Heard County (Ga.) on ESPNU.  The game is one of seven contests slated to open the 2017 high school football season on the ESPN networks. The game will kickoff at 2:30 PM CST as the first part of a double header to be played in Cartersville, Georgia. The second game will pit Bartram Trail (Fla.) vs. Cartersville.  Cartersville has a 30 game win streak.

“We are honored to be included in the ESPN kickoff weekend,” Saraland coach Jeff Kelly said on Al.com. “It should be a great experience for our kids and a chance to represent our city and fans. We know we will be playing a very good football team with a lot of people watching so we better be ready to go.”

It is the second year in a row that Saraland has played on national television.  The Spartans lost to Spanish Fort last October on ESPN2.
