Leroy Big Plays Beat Elba 48-20 in ALFCA Game of the Week

The Elba Tigers got a huge night from their quarterback, but couldn’t stop the Leroy offense in the first three quarters as the Bears defeated Elba 48-20 in the ALFCA Game of the Week.

Elba got a huge game rushing from Richmon Singletary, who compiled 315 yards on 24 carries with two touchdowns. Singletary scored from 4 and 10 yards out for the Tigers. But Leroy countered with freshman Kelston Fikes.  Fikes ran for 245 yards and four touchdowns on the night.  He also had two kickoff returns for a total of 81 yards.

Elba opened the scoring in the first quarter. The Tigers drove to the Leroy 12 yard line where they had a 4th and 11.  Singletary dropped to pass, but then scrambled for the first down at the Bear one. Kendre Jordan scored on the next play to give Elba a short lived lead.

The Tiger defense could not stop the Bears behind the running of Fikes. 7th ranked Leroy scored the first seven times it had the ball. Fikes scored on runs of 67, 73, 33 and 9 yards.

Elba trailed 28-14 at halftime, which included being held without scoring after a 1st -and-goal situation at the Leroy 9 right before the break.

Leroy quarterback Nathan Taylor exploited the Elba high pressure man to man coverage defense. He completed 5-of-6 passes for 142 yards and three TDs. He connected with Prinis Snow, Matt Snow and Dawson McDaniels for the scores against the 8th ranked Tigers.

Elba ended its season at 8-3, while Leroy (9-2) advances to the second round of the playoffs at Ariton next Friday night.
