Head Coaching Openings Are Still Everywhere in State

A large number of head coaching openings are still vacant as the month of March comes to a close. This should make for a very busy April as schools look to fill these vacancies before spring football practice. As these openings are filled by present head coaches, there will be more head jobs open throughout the month of April.

At least 21 AHSAA schools are still looking to hire new coaches. At least 45 other teams have already hired new coaches for the 2021 season, leaving a total of 66 changes as of late March. Before the 2020 season, some 71 AHSAA schools changed coaches and before the 2019 season, 84 schools hired new head men. But this still pales in comparison to 2018, when 92 AHSAA schools swapped coaches.

Here are the schools with vacant head coaching positions (21) :

1A Choctaw County, Millry, Ragland.

2A Aliceville, Red Bay

3A None

4A Alabama Christian, Madison County, North Jackson, W.S. Neal

5A Beauregard, Cordova, Crossville, Headland, Jemison, Lawrence County, Wenonah
