Head Coach

Charles Moody

Southside Selma

When an offense is scoring 50 points a night, folks will talk about schemes and athletes—and Southside Selma had plenty of both in 2025. But the real reason the Panthers were so hard to stop was simpler: they believed in what they were doing, and they trusted the man teaching it.

Coach Charles Moody guided Southside Selma to a 13–1 season, turning Friday nights into track meets. The 13 victories for the Panthers bettered the school record for wins that Coach Moody’s squad had achieved in 2024 with 11 victories. Both seasons ended with berths in the semi finals of the 3A state playoffs.

Coach Moody was a standout tight end for Wilcox Central and Daleville in the early 2000s. He signed with Alabama A&M where he earned All Conference honors three times and All American honors at tight end.

He served as an assistant at multiple stops in Alabama, and worked as head coach at Aliceville, Wilcox, and Hale County before coming to Southside in 2019. He has already won more football games than any coach in Southside history and his 2025 offense scored an amazing 701 points.

Principal Cedric Brown put it in plain terms: Coach Moody has shown great leadership, and the standard of excellence he sets is felt across the campus. And Coach Moody himself said it best: “Coaching young men… has been my calling.” In 2025, that calling produced a season Southside Selma will remember for a long time.
