Joe Clements

At Bibb County, the story of Coach Joe Clements is bigger than a title, bigger than a play call, bigger than a season.

It’s a story about grit—earned and lived.

Clements grew up in West Blocton, starred for the Tigers, and later walked on at Jacksonville State. In 2012, a car accident changed everything, leaving him paralyzed. But it didn’t take away his drive. He fought back, finished college, became a teacher, and kept coaching—showing young men what perseverance looks like when it’s not just a word on a poster.

By 2025, he was Bibb County’s offensive run game coordinator, helping guide a team that put up 31.8 points per game and battled its way to seven wins. He also works as the offensive line coach and the team’s strength and conditioning coach. His impact is felt most clearly in the voices of the kids. “From working out, to practicing, to watching film, he pushes us to be our best selves every day,” said Tre Hedrick. “When game time comes, I wouldn’t want anyone else on my side more than him.”

Clements received the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s “Making a Difference Award”in 2020 and was the Bibb County Teacher of the Year in 2024. He and his wife Johnel have been married for 12 years.
