Chan Lowe

In Leroy, Alabama, they know something about winning high school football games.

Over the last 10 seasons, Chan Lowe has helped shape the continued success of the Bears football program. First, as defensive coordinator for head coach Jason Massey, where he was named the 2022 Assistant Coach of the Year during the Leroy state title run. He then took over as interim head coach the following season when Coach Massey was deployed with the Alabama National Guard. He led that Leroy squad to the state championship as well.

Since becoming the permanent head coach in 2024, Leroy has carved out a record of 24-3. The 2025 team scored 637 points, second most in school history.

Ask his players and they’ll tell you what makes it work. Senior Sawyer Sullivan said Coach Lowe is “a great coach but also a great man,” someone who pushes them to be their best, to never quit, and to stay “1–0” in everything they do. That’s not just a slogan—it’s a way of operating.

Principal Lynn Pace called it “The Lowe Era,” praising the force and focus Coach Lowe brings—not only to opponents, but to the way students carry themselves in school. And that matters, because Coach Lowe wears more than one hat—Athletic Director, head softball coach, as well as deacon at First Baptist Church of Leroy.

He and his wife Allison have been married for 11 years and have a daughter Ellie Rae, who is his biggest cheerleader.
