Two North Alabama Coaches Leave for New Opportunities

Two coaches from the Huntsville area have resigned to take new jobs.

Columbia coach Chris Hancock has announced he is leaving the school to take an assistant’s job at Huntsville High School under new coach Mark Fleetwood.  Hancock went 6-24 in three seasons as he worked to build a Columbia program that has not had a winning season in the school’s 11 year football history.

DAR coach Bobby Rhodes has resigned to take a job in Georgia, according to the Advertiser-Gleam. Rhodes spent much of his career as a college assistant and was head coach at Grissom in 2009.  DAR went 12-19 with one playoff appearance under Rhodes.  In 2015, the DAR squad went 8-3 for the best record in school history.  Rhodes is the son of long time high school and college coach Rick Rhodes, who worked on the football staff at DAR.
