Coaching hires are starting to heat up–
Bob Jones High School has tapped Kelvis White as their new head football coach replacing Kevin Rose who resigned last month to take a job In Tennessee.
Kelvis, the brother of Sparkman Senators head coach Laron White and son of longtime Courtland head coach Lewis White, has spent the past four seasons as the head coach at Huntsville’s Mae Jamison High, leading the Jaguars to a 25-20 record over four seasons including four consecutive playoff approaches and a 10-2 mark and region crown in 2017.
Marc Sieving is the new head coach at Elba High School. Sieving had spent 15 years as an assistant coach at Enterprise and the last six as the head coach at Dauphin Junior High in Enterprise. He is excited for this first varsity head coaching job.
“I’ve always wanted to be a head coach and I’ve always kind of had my eye on this place,” Sieving said. “It’s going to be an awesome opportunity. It’s going to be a great challenge but I’m looking forward to it.”
Look for some more hires in the next few days as schools start gearing up for spring practice.
The Minority Coaches Association of Alabama has scheduled their third conference for March 5th and 6th at the Embassy Suites in Birmingham. They have quite a line up of coaches including Les Miles of Kansas, Bill Clark of UAB, Chad Morris, OC at Auburn, Jeremy Pruitt of Tennessee and Donald Ely, head coach at Alabama State. Also speaking will be Mark Freeman of 7A champion Thompson, Chris Hatcher, head coach at Samford, Scott Fountain, special teams coordinator at Arkansas and Carl Scott, DB coach at Alabama.
