ALFCA Convention Features Alabama Coach De Boer



New Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer will headline the 19th annual Alabama Football Coaches Connvention. The convention will open next Thursday, January 25th at 5:00 PM at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Montgomery. The convention runs through Friday afternoon. The annual ALFCA Coach of the Year Banquet will be held at the Embassy Suites at 11:15 AM on Saturday, January 27th.

The ALFCA general meeting will open the convention at 5:00 on Thursday. The meeting will include an AHSAA update, district board member elections, open floor discussions about issues as well as drawings and giveaways.


Coach Brent Key of Georgia Tech will be the lead off speaker at 5:50 PM. Coach DeBoer will be on slate at 7:00 PM and SEC Coach of the Year Eli Drinkwitz of Missouri will close the first evening with his presentation at 8:10 PM. Following Coach Drinkwitz, the annual ALFCA Social will be held at the Embassy Suites.


Friday morning's slate will bring three more top college coaches. Jacksonville State's Rich Rodriguez will open the morning at 8:30 AM. Auburn's head coach Hugh Freeze will speak from 9:40-10:40 AM and South Carolina's Shane Beamer will close the morning session out at 10:45 AM.


After a lunch break, the high school coaches will fire up Friday afternoon. Session 1 will start at 1:15 PM with four top prep coaches - Zach Golson of Mary Montgomery, Frank Warren of Parker, Jason Allen of Chamber Academy and John Ritter of Russellville. The second session will begin at 2:25 PM featuring Sam Adams of Oxford, Ali Smith of Gadsden City, Lawrence Yielding from B.C. Rain in Mobile and Doug Goodwin from Jackson Prep (Ms).


The convention will conclude at 3:30 PM wih the popular Hall of Fame Coaches Question and Answer Roundtable.
