ALFCA Announces Two New Board Members

President Terry Curtis of the Alabama Football Coaches Association has appointed two new board members to replace two coaches who changed jobs and districts this spring.

Coach Jimmy Perry of St. James School has been chosen to represent District 3, replacing Randy Ragsdale of Trinity. Coach Ragsdale retired from coaching but will remain at Trinity in an administrative position. A 1979 graduate of Auburn University, Coach Perry served as an assistant coach at Trinity and later at Robert E. Lee High School from 1979-1994. He was named head coach at Lee in 1995 and led the Generals to the 6A State Championship game in 1999. He returned to Auburn University and served as high school relations coach from 2000-2004 and director of football operations until 2009. He then got back into high school coaching at St. Paul’s School. In three seasons his team went 27-8. In 2012, he returned to Montgomery to take over the St. James program.

The new District 4 representative is Norman Dean of Elmore County. Coach Dean replaces Brian Blackmon of Opelika High School. Coach Blackmon left Opelika to take a job as an offensive analyst at Auburn University. A 1982 graduate of Elmore County High School, Coach Dean arrived at his alma mater in 1996 and served as assistant coach until 2005 when he was named head coach. Coach Dean has a record of 75-56 during his twelve years at the helm and has always been a strong supporter of the Alabama Football Coaches Association.
