Eric Scott

Teams in the Mobile area look at the Baker High Hornets a little differently these days. And Eric Scott is one of the main reasons why.

Over a 23 year career that has included several stops in the Mobile area, Coach Scott has been involved with a lot of successful programs. He had just completed a stint as defensive coordinator at Baker High School, when the program turned to him after the 2024 season to replace departed coach Juan Johnson.

A Monroeville native and a two year letterman at the University of Southern Mississippi, Eric signed on with Coach Jeff Kelly in 2011 and helped build the Saraland program from its infancy. He coached linebackers for the Spartans as well as serving as head track coach. He then left for a 6 year run as offensive coordinator at Vigor and two years as assistant head coach and wide receiver coach at Foley.

Coach Scott arrived at Baker as defensive line coach in 2021. The last three years have been the greatest three year run in Baker football history. His first season as head coach in 2025, the Hornets won their first region title in 36 years. The regular season concluded with big wins over Mary Montgomery, Fairhope and Vigor, something that would have been looked on as impossible just a few short years ago.

And the Hornets under Eric Scott, are just getting started.

He and his wife, Dr. Nyka Scott, share a blended family—Jordan, Eric II, and Cire.
